Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd will on Wednesday unveil its connected car technologies at the auto expo, becoming the country’s first telecom company to enter an arena thus far reserved just for global automakers.
The move will allow India’s largest telecom operator by users to project itself as an online of Things (IoT) solutions provider instead of being just the telecom company it had been when it started operations in September 2016.
“Jio will exhibit car connect vehicle tracking system for transport service providers, logistics companies. With this expo, Jio will demonstrate the role of connectivity, network and technology for connected vehicles of the longer term ,” said an individual conscious of the event , requesting anonymity.
Jio has been performing on connected car technologies for quite a year at its campus in Navi Mumbai.
“Jio’s portfolio of use cases for connected vehicles includes hardware, cloud platform, data management,” the person said.
A spokesperson for Jio didn’t answer emailed queries until press time.
