BENGALURU: Tech Mahindra has elevated its head of Canada operations Harshvendra Soin as its chief people officer, as it looks to reskill its workforce to grab opportunities in emerging areas such as digital.
Soin was earlier chief people officer at Fortis healthcare and Aditya Birla Retail before he joined Tech Mahindra in 2012. Till recently, he was heading the Canada Enterprise Business for the company.
Soin will replace Rakesh Soni, who will move to be an advisor to the company.
Tech Mahindra has joined its peers such as Wipro NSE 1.41 % in promoting people experts as they face challenges of technology shifts towards areas such as digital, cloud and analytics and need to reskill their existing workforce to manage the shifts.
IT services companies have been seeing faster growth in digital technology services such as cybersecurity, data analytics and machine learning in the past few years.
This has prompted them realign workforce with greater mix of digital technology skills and find leaders who can drive faster digital transformation.
