Telegram is a communication app with a lot of features. However, this hasn’t stopped the app from expanding its capabilities over time. Telegram is preparing to bring reaction emoji to the iOS version of the app after working on a new feature to hide spoilers in chats.
According to Android Police, the app now offers a default selection of 11 reaction emoji that may be used to respond to messages. The feature will most likely resemble how Instagram DMs handle message reactions. Thumbs up, thumbs down, heart, laughter, and other emoji are planned to be added to the functionality.
In a group chat, one user’s reactions will be visible to all other users, and admins will have the ability to enable or disable the feature in groups and channels. The reaction emoji aren’t just static; they’re accompanied by a short animation that adds some life to the process.
While the functionality has so far only been seen on the iOS beta version of the programme, it is expected to find its way to the Android version and all other stable users in the near future. While the functionality isn’t novel in and of itself, it will help Telegram maintain its position as one of the most feature-rich instant messaging apps.
WhatsApp is also planning to add emoji reactions.
The reaction emoji will be added to Telegram’s competition, Meta’s WhatsApp, in the future. WhatsApp message replies could be included in a future version, according to WABetaInfo, which has a track record of leaking features ahead of time.
However, the functionality is still in the works and may not be offered to beta testers anytime soon. However, according to the tipster’s leaked photographs, you can see how the functionality will look once it’s deployed.
The functionality will also bring WhatsApp one step closer to Mark Zuckerberg’s cross-platform goals, allowing users to communicate more easily with Instagram and Messenger users.
