WhatsApp’s next big feature is for businesses to serve you better

WhatsApp is making headlines almost daily for its future update plans. Now, WhatsApp is reportedly adding a feature on its WhatsApp Business app to help businesses to reach and serve you better. Facebook has big plans for enabling businesses with WhatsApp as a key communication platform. It seems like the social media giant has decided to start by helping businesses to quickly search for potential customers on WhatsApp.

For the Android business app, WhatsApp will reportedly add ‘Chat filters’ that will help admins of WhatsApp Business accounts search messages quickly. The ‘Chat filters’ options will group users in unread chats, groups and broadcast categories. The admin will just have to tap on the search bar to access these filters. This is very similar to the ‘action button’ on Instagram which helps businesses to bring chats of priority customers directly to the inbox. With this feature on WhatsApp, businesses can expect to have better and timely communication with their priority and potential customers to provide better service.

For those unaware, WhatsApp for Business was launched in India in January this year. It allows small businesses to interact with customers as well as manage their presence on the platform. WhatsApp for Business is built on the same platform as the WhatsApp Messenger. However, boasts of some additional features including Verified Profiles along with features like Quick Replies, Greeting Messages and Away Messages.

WhatsApp for Business allows users to track information like the number of messages they have sent, the ones delivered, messages read and received across groups and individual chats. Users can also send and receive messages with WhatsApp Business on desktops. Businesses can also access messaging statistics for a given period of time. WhatsApp for Business app is so far available only for Android users. However, the company has said that it plans to roll out the app to other platforms as well.
